Ironically, one of the worst places in the USA, even up until recent times, was Hawai'i, despite it's laid-back & decadent reputation. The govt & military used "Green Harvest" campaigns to terrorize & disempower the local populations on all the islands for decades, using military choppers & armed combat-swat troops to hover over properties, drop down & steal crops, all w/o warrants. These were used as military training exercises for foreign wars, in USA.

Our friend Roger Christie, who ran the THC Ministry for years in downtown Hilo, proclaiming the sacredness of cannabis & mostly distributing free herb to street people, when Abercrombie became gov, had his building & home raided & seized, then put in prison w/o trial for over 2 years, largely in solitary, for no violence or weapons or anything. Look it up... & that was a Dem gov. America is a patchwork of military colonies.

What was most crazy, cannabis was being made legal in California at the same time, people making millions from dispensaries. BTW you can still be busted, denied jobs in every state because it's still illegal federally.

Yes, absolutely still illegal federally. That's why the whole "state's rights" trope is a lot of b.s. (when it comes to cannabis, abortion and gun rights)

The Government's War on Domestic Farmers (both in Hawaii and California) was a travesty. I'd like to hear more about the Hawaii story. Light on the subject seems to be the best antiseptic.
